Christmas has officially entered the logistics phase: Santa’s sleigh dates and routes for Culcheth and Croft have been confirmed. Newton and District Jubilee Rotary Club is organising the charity tour, so there is festive fun with a worthwhile purpose, which is rather better than simply buying another novelty mug.
Father Christmas will visit different parts of Warrington in the run-up to Christmas, with the Culcheth and Croft routes taking place between Friday, December 8 and Tuesday, December 19. The times are generally 5.30pm to 8pm, although exact arrival times will naturally depend on traffic, enthusiastic waving and the usual festive chaos.

It is a generous effort from Newton and District Jubilee Rotary Club, and the charity angle gives the sleigh tour some genuine substance beyond the glitter and seasonal jingles. Residents should expect the route timings to be approximate, but that is hardly a scandal: even Santa cannot defeat every parked car, roadworks and December traffic in one evening.
