Culcheth is swapping the usual midweek routine for something considerably more civilised: a bright pink mobile bookshop full of actual books, arriving at The Culcheth Arms on Church Lane.
The Wandering Chapter, which has gathered more than 67,000 Instagram followers, will be visiting from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday, October 21. Yes, it is a bookshop on wheels, which is objectively more charming than most things on wheels, particularly bin lorries at 6am.
The event promises stories, connection and a shared love of books, according to The Culcheth Arms. It is a genuinely lovely idea: a local pub hosting an independent travelling bookshop is exactly the sort of wholesome village activity that makes Culcheth feel like more than a postcode with a busy main road.
That said, the relentless "viral" label can take a quiet seat. A bookshop does not need Instagram fame to justify a visit. If it has good titles, welcoming people and perhaps something you did not know you wanted until you spotted it on a shelf, it has already done the job.
Tickets are available through The Culcheth Arms website. The pub is at 1 Church Lane, Warrington, WA3 5DL, and The Wandering Chapter will be there for one evening only.
