Culcheth pet supplies shop named 'best independent' in Warrington - Warrington Guardian

Culcheth’s own Animal Kingdom has bagged best independent pet supplies shop in Warrington, and frankly, the village pets are looking smug about it.

Culcheth has another little reason to puff its chest out, and this time it involves leads, kibble, raw food, and the sort of customer service you do not usually find wedged between aisle twelve and a self-checkout shouting about unexpected items.

Animal Kingdom Pet Supplies and Raw Food Specialists, based at 10-12 Church Lane, Culcheth, has been named the best independent pet supplies store in Warrington by trade magazine Pet Business World.

The magazine sent mystery shoppers around Warrington, including to Animal Kingdom, and the Culcheth shop came out with a very tidy 10-out-of-10 overall score. That included five-out-of-five for sales skills and five-out-of-five for store presentation. Not bad at all for a village business, and a reminder that local shops can absolutely hold their own when they are run properly.

Animal Kingdom describes itself as providing quality food and accessories for much-loved pets, and judging by the result, the mystery shopper was more than satisfied. The shop said on social media that the visitor praised the look and feel of the store, along with its customer service, adding that this level of care is not something you are always likely to get from major retailers. Quite right too. Big chains may have scale, but they rarely know your dog’s name, dietary quirks, and emotional history with squeaky toys.

The team also said that they pride themselves on finding the best solutions for each pet’s needs. That is exactly the sort of detail people appreciate, especially when pets are not just pets, but furry household dictators with opinions stronger than most parish council meetings.

There is a small irony in the original report carrying a rather odd note about an exclusive subscriber partnership with USA Today and American colleagues. Lovely, but Culcheth does not need transatlantic validation to know when one of its local businesses is doing a cracking job. Still, if our pet shop excellence has somehow gone international, we shall take it.

Credit where it is due, Animal Kingdom has earned this one. Independent shops survive on effort, knowledge, repeat customers, and the ability to be more useful than a faceless warehouse. This award suggests they are doing all four rather well.
