Christmas lights switch-on planned for Culcheth and Glazebury - warringtonguardian.co.uk

Christmas is coming to Culcheth and Glazebury, with lights switch-ons planned for November 29 and December 6. A welcome bit of festive brightness.

The festive season is set to arrive in suitably glittering fashion, with Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council organising Christmas lights switch-ons in both villages.

Culcheth gets the first burst of seasonal sparkle on Saturday, November 29, followed by Glazebury on Saturday, December 6. It is a sensible arrangement: two villages, two events, and hopefully fewer people trying to be in two places at once while carrying a paper cup of something festive.

The council is inviting community organisations and businesses to help make both occasions memorable. That is good news for the local community, because village events are at their best when they involve more than a switch, a countdown and an ambitious attempt to untangle Christmas lights in public.

Anyone interested in contributing can contact Cllr Alicia Edwards at [email protected] for more information.

With both villages taking part, this promises to be a cheerful start to the Christmas season. Whether the lights go on perfectly first time is another matter, but a little local sparkle is certainly preferable to the usual early winter gloom.
