Culcheth Village Club is preparing for a night of blue suede shoes, big vocals and, sensibly, pie and peas. Award-winning Elvis tribute act Kirk Kreole, recognised as the UK's official number one Elvis tribute act, will headline a fundraiser on Friday, September 25, at 7.30pm.
The Elvis Tribute Night is being organised by the Toe Tappers line dancing group, with Beautiful Noise Choir and a DJ also appearing. It sounds like a refreshingly straightforward recipe for a good local evening: live music, dancing, familiar songs and none of the usual fuss about finding something to do on a Friday night.
Tickets cost £15 per person, with pie and peas available for an additional £2. That is hard to grumble at, particularly because all proceeds will go to Creating Adventures, a charity supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism across Warrington and the surrounding area.
Creating Adventures currently supports more than 100 adults every week through activities including music, dance, drama, art, cookery, wellbeing and life-skills programmes. The charity is also working towards creating a permanent home where members can learn, create, connect and thrive, which is a considerably more meaningful ambition than simply finding somewhere to store the folding chairs.
The event has been organised by Babs McDermott, Doreen and Monique, who continue to support the charity through the Toe Tappers. Culcheth Village Club is also backing the cause by hosting the evening, showing once again that community venues can do far more than provide somewhere to park a bar stool.
A spokesperson for the event said: “Everyone is warmly invited to join us, whether you're a lifelong Elvis fan, looking for a fun night out, or simply want to support a fantastic local charity.”
Tickets are available by contacting Babs McDermott on 07756 447414. More information about Creating Adventures and its work is available at creatingadventures.org.uk.
