2021 Census
The 2021 census published reports don’t provide information specifically for Culcheth but they do give a lot of statistics for our ward area of Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft. Here are a few highlights.
The population is highly homogenous with 97.5% of residents identifying as White, higher than Warrington borough (93.5%), the North West region (90%), and the England average (81.7%).
The age profile shows a higher proportion of older people and lower proportion of children. Despite the older age profile about 83% of residents report "Good" or "Very Good" health.
Unemployment in 2021 was 2.4% compared to a national average of 3.9%. The breakdown of employment is shown in this graph:

60% of our workers are in managerial, professional, technical occupations. This is likely related to another statistic recording that nearly 40% of our residents have degree level qualifications.
The area has a high rate of property ownership compared to both regional and national averages with 44% of households owning their homes outright. A further 38% own their home with a mortgage and only about 10% are privately renting their home. 45% of homes are detached, twice the national average. Terraced homes and flats make up only 17% of homes, compared to nearly half (45%) of all housing across England.
The higher wealth of residents is also shown in car ownership. Over 53% of households have two or more cars or vans available compared to the national average of 35%. Only 7% of households have no car or van while the national average is 23% having no access to a vehicle.
